Ever since Il Sogno closed, there’s been a big gap in really good Italian food in the Pearl area.
Well, not anymore!
Allora just opened and oh, my, word! We went for date night on Sunday because we couldn’t wait another minute to try it out. It hadn’t been open a whole week yet but we had a hard time getting reservations! We aren’t the only ones eagerly wanting to try this food inspired by the Amalfi Coast.
The setting is beautiful. The colors are relaxing but the bar area is modern and trendy and was hopping! It seems like a contradiction but it all works together to make you feel welcome and wanting to stay awhile. For an Italian restaurant, that’s exactly the goal! Italians know how to enjoy their meals.
We were happy to sit outside on the comfortable cushion chairs in the cool night breeze. It was so hard to choose from the extensive menu and even larger wine selections. We opted to stay on the healthier side of things, or at least we tried. I just wish I had thought to bring my good camera because the pictures from my phone don’t do the food its justice.
We had grilled swordfish, chickpeas with amatriciana sauce, roasted cauliflower with capers, butternut squash and whipped ricotta cheese, sourdough bread with goat cheese mouse and finally the lemon curd with blueberries for dessert.
Our favorite was the Allora which is the bread, goat cheese with pickled beets. It’s just so hard to explain how good it is! You must go try it for yourself.
I am still thinking about it.
Isn’t that what a great restaurant does? Makes you feel at home and wanting to come back for more!
So when you are looking for that night out with your honey that will be memorable, put Allora on the list!
I would plan ahead because it might be hard to get a table soon!
Bravissimo Chef!
Stay Sassy Y’all.
